PRODISPOSITION TO ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
Apolipoprotein E (APOE) is a gene that plays a key role in lipid metabolism and has been intensively studied in the context of Alzheimer's disease. Our laboratory detects two variants of this gene, and their presence significantly affects the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. We are testing variants of the APOE gene that are specific to its polymorphisms. These changes may affect the function of apolipoprotein E and are associated with the risk of various diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and other lipid metabolism disorders.
