Product detailed description
The CKD-EPI (Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration) test is a laboratory test used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), a key indicator of kidney function. This formula, considered more accurate than older methods such as MDRD (Modification of Diet in Renal Disease), takes into account blood creatinine levels, age, sex, and ethnicity. CKD-EPI is primarily used for diagnosing and monitoring chronic kidney disease, assessing the severity of kidney damage and the risk of disease progression, and aiding in treatment decisions, such as adjusting the dosage of medications dependent on kidney function.
