Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) IgM Antibody Test

The Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) IgM antibody test is a specific laboratory test that detects the presence of IgM antibodies to the hepatitis A virus in an individual's blood.

The IgM antibodies are usually among the first ones the body produces in response to infection. Thus, the presence of these antibodies indicates nrecent infection with hepatitis A, typically within 2-6 weeks of exposure to the virus.

The test is important for rapid diagnosis of the acute phase of hepatitis A, allowing appropriate treatment and preventive measures to be initiated immediately.
