    Hepatitis A Virus (HAV)

    The Hepatitis A (Hepatitis A) total antibody test is a laboratory test that detects the presence of antibodies to the hepatitis A virus in the blood.

    This test is used to determine if a person has been infected with or successfully vaccinated against hepatitis A virus in the past.

    The HAV total test involves looking for two types of antibodies:IgM and IgG. IgM antibodies are usually detected shortly after infection and indicate the acute phase of hepatitis A. On the other hand, IgG antibodies appear later and remain in the body for a long time.
