This blood test detects antibodies against myeloperoxidase (MPO), an enzyme found in neutrophils. Antibodies against MPO (pANCA) are often associated with autoimmune diseases such as microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) or eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). The test is used to diagnose autoimmune vasculitis and to monitor disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
