    Checking Parathyroid Hormone

    The parathyroid hormone (PTH) test is a diagnostic test that measures the level of parathyroid hormone in the blood.

    This hormone is produced by the parathyroid glands and plays a key role in regulating calcium levels in the body.

    Testing for PTH is usually done when a parathyroid disorder such as hyperparathyroidism (excessive parathyroid hormone production) or hypoparathyroidism (insufficient parathyroid hormone production) is suspected.
