The urine test for the simultaneous detection of 14 sexually transmitted pathogens allows for rapid and effective identification of infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which are often responsible for sexually transmitted diseases. This laboratory test detects the following pathogens:
- Chlamydia Trachomatis (CT): A bacterium that causes chlamydia, leading to infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease.
- Neisseria Gonorrhoeae (NG): The causative agent of gonorrhea, an infection of the genital tract that can cause serious health issues.
- Trichomonas Vaginalis (TV): A parasite that causes trichomoniasis, often asymptomatic, but can lead to irritation and inflammation.
- Mycoplasma Hominis (MH): A bacterium associated with urinary and genital tract infections.
- Mycoplasma Genitalium (MG): A bacterium that causes urinary and genital infections, potentially leading to pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility.
- Ureaplasma Urealyticum (UU): A pathogen that can cause urinary tract inflammation and reproductive problems.
- Ureaplasma Parvum (UP): A bacterium commonly present in the genital tract, may cause urinary tract infections.
- Candida albicans (CA): A yeast that causes candidiasis, leading to irritation and discharge.
- Gardnerella vaginalis (GV): A bacterium associated with bacterial vaginosis, characterized by abnormal discharge.
- Treponema pallidum (TP): A bacterium causing syphilis, a serious sexually transmitted disease.
- Haemophilus ducreyi (HD): A bacterium responsible for chancroid, painful genital ulcers.
- Herpes simplex virus -1 (HSV-1): A virus causing cold sores, most commonly around the mouth, but it can be transmitted to the genitals.
- Herpes simplex virus -2 (HSV-2): A virus causing genital herpes, painful blisters in the genital area.
- Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS): A bacterium that can cause urinary tract infections and poses a risk to newborns if transmitted during childbirth.
