Detailed information

Product detailed description

TOXOPLASMA GONDII IgG, IgM

Toxoplasma gondii antibody test

The Toxoplasma gondii test is a laboratory test used to detect IgG and IgM antibodies to the Toxoplasma gondii parasite that causes toxoplasmosis.

IgM antibodies to T. gondii are usually detectable shortly after infection and indicate a recent or acute infection. The presence of IgM antibodies indicates possible recent exposure to the parasite and the need for further monitoring or treatment.

IgG antibodies develop later and may remain in the body for a long time after infection. The presence of IgG antibodies usually indicates a past infection and may indicate immunity to further T. gondii infection. In the context of pregnancy, IgG testing is important to determine whether the mother has previous exposure and therefore potential immunity to the parasite.
